BHAKTA 1990 JAMAICAN RUM

In 2019, Raj Bhakta, the founder of WhistlePig, departed from the company amidst bitter circumstances. He subsequently embarked on his own venture, Bhakta Spirits, shortly thereafter. Initially focusing on Armagnac, the brand has now introduced a blended Jamaican Rum. Branded as Bhakta 1990, this remarkable blend combines a 25-year-old Jamaican column still rum from Clarendon/Monymusk, distilled in 1985, with a 23-year-old Jamaican pot still rum from Appleton Estates, distilled in 1990. After the blending process in 2014, the blend was further matured for an additional three years in single-fill bourbon and rye barrels from MGP, culminating in a unique finish in Armagnac casks. Bottled at an impressive cask strength of 124 proof, it presents an extraordinary profile with scents of orange, pipe tobacco, and banana. Upon tasting, expect flavors of fig, red fruit, and clove, with a dry finish reminiscent of apricot and whipped frosting. Limited to a scarce quantity of 1,500 bottles.
